Aloha Friday

with Neal Chin & Friends

This month's Aloha Friday features 'ukulele virtuoso Neal Chin. From Maui and Honolulu, Neal has been performing, teaching and recording since his teens, and is a winner of the Na Hoku award, the Hawaiian Grammy. Sharing the stage with Neal will be many friends, including the band 'Olekona, the hula group Ke Alaula, bassist Milo Fultz, percussionist Merlin Showalter, and guitarist Jerry Gleason. During intermission there will be two vintage tourism films from the early 1900s, showing the trades and pastimes of old Hawai'i. The show is Friday, August 19, 6:00-8:00 pm, at Whirled Pies Downtown (Cozmic), 199 W. 8th in Eugene. The show is preceded by a lively social hour, 5:00-6:00 pm, with video of the legendary Israel Kamakawiwo'ole; Hawaiian food by Everyday Kine Grindz; pizza & drinks by Whirled Pies; lomilomi massage by Talicia Brown; and a crafts table featuring handmade Hawaiian print bags, totes and purses by Susan Ogawa. The show is free, but donations are appreciated. Aloha!
