Decolonizing Natural Medicine: Increasing Access to Holistic Health for All
Zaniyan Center is a 501c3 non-profit educational organization that promotes health through plants. The word "Zaniyan" is a Lakota word meaning, "being in a state of health or wholeness. Hosting its first annual conference, "Decolonizing Natural Medicine: Increasing Access to Holistic Health for All", on Saturday, October 14th, 2017, at the Lane Community College Longhouse from 8 am to 5:30 pm. The Longhouse is located on Lane's campus at 4000 East 30th Ave., Eugene, OR 97405.
The objectives of this conference are to learn mind-body-heart-spirit tools that professionals can integrate into our practices to further the healing of those we serve. This one-day conference is designed for healers and health professionals, including MD, DO, ND, DC, RN, LAc, PA, NP, Herbalists, Midwives, Doulas, Energy Healers, Counselors, Community Health Workers, LMT and body workers, community members, activists and students entering the healing professions.
Conference topics, all presented by regional experts-in-the-field include: Movement Therapeutics; The Diagnostic Skills of Tai Chi, Healing Community with Plants, Creating New Healthy Traditions, Food Grows Community (panel discussion), Herbal Pain Relief; Effective Alternatives to Opiates, Moving Toward Trauma-Sensitive Healing Arts Practices and Occupy Medical; Bringing Herbs to the People.
We specifically scheduled our Decolonizing Natural Medicine conference to coincide with Mountain Rose’s free herbalism event on Sunday, October 15, from 12-5 pm at Mount Pisgah.
