Next Aloha Friday is July 21 at Whirled Pies Downtown (Cozmic), 199 W. 8th in Eugene. Social Hour, 5:00-6:00 pm: Pre-show music is by Aja Gample, an up-and-coming slack key guitar player/singer/songwriter. Plus Hawaiian food by Everyday Kine Grindz; pizza and libations by Whirled Pies; and display tables featuring Alan Reeder's collection of Pacific Island cultural artifacts. Main Show, 6:00-8:00 pm: Mike Keale, a living legend from Kaua'i, member of a Hawaiian 'ohana that includes uncle Moe Keale and cousin Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, and Nā Hōkū nominee for Male Vocalist of the Year and Island Music Album of the year. Mike will be offering songs and stories, with hula by members of Eugene's own hula school, Nā Pua O Hawai'i Nei. The event is free, but donations are appreciated. Aloha!
