As winter finally begins to fade and spring sprightly emerges, a plethora of enticing adventures await during the month of March. Known for being a time of new beginnings, there is an abundance of family-friendly activities to satiate any and all desires for an enjoyable experience.

Mark your calendars on Sunday, March 13th in preparation for daylight savings time as clocks will be set forward one hour. While a small portion of sleep may be lost, iridescent blue skies and radiant rays of sunshine will reappear and signal the dawn of a fresh chapter. With extended opportunities to soak up the sun and spring break right around the corner, Oregon Family Magazine has assembled an enthralling list of indoor and outdoor endeavors, local to the Eugene area, that are certain to forge everlasting memories with your family.

Indoor Activities

A local favorite for food and entertainment, Putters Family Entertainment Center is the one stop shop for classic games and enjoyment for all ages. Seating over 500 guests and offering indoor mini golf, an indoor play area, pool tables, video arcade and a new laser tag arena, Putters has consistently been the best place to host parties and have a lively time in Eugene. Their full-service pizzeria crafts freshly made, high-quality ingredient pizzas that pair delectably alongside a selection of salads, local beers and wines. Whether it’s a date night, family night out or birthday party, Putters is a great destination during spring break.

Bursting onto the scene, head to Broadway Metro, located in downtown Eugene, for a family movie night. With a wide selection of movies to see, there’s plenty of options that will suit everyone’s fancy. Operating on a limited basis, auditorium rentals for private screenings are a convenient option for more intimately exclusive entertainment with a select group of individuals. Available at a fraction of their normal rates, this opportunity is an affordable and safe moviegoing experience for households and extended quaranteams. Those who wish to forgo the big screen and prefer to stay at home can opt for Boadway’s ‘Metro@Home’ service – offering popcorn, growlers, candy, Blu-rays and DVDs – available for pickup seven days a week.

Outdoor Activities

Containing a wide range of native habitats where visitors can discover the ecology of the Southern Willamette Valley, visiting Mount Pisgah Arboretum is a beautiful seven mile site of dynamic family-friendly fun. Its trails feature interactive exhibits that inspire exploration, and an array of engaging nature education programs are fit for all ages and interests. Beyond the picturesque views, Mount Pisgah provides free public restrooms and picnic tables, as well as a small education building and events facility that can be rented for special events.

Take a stroll with your kids and favorite four-legged companion to Amazon Park where there are plenty of spots to sit for a picnic, skate and bike ride, play on the playground and let your pup socialize with its fellow furry friends at the dog park. As the March Madness basketball tournament approaches, a great way to celebrate and vicariously get involved is to set up a real-life fantasy league of your own. Whether it’s with neighbors or friends, bring a ball to the court, break a sweat and practice your sportsmanship skills in a thrilling occasion of light-hearted family fun.

No matter the outing or destination, spring in Eugene is the place to be. Sporting plentiful opportunities to explore, laugh and kick back with your loved ones, Oregon Family Magazine wishes everyone a fantastic month of March!
