Oregon Festival of American Music 2016: "Ac cent tchu ate The Positive"

The Andrews Sisters, Bing Crosby & WWII

It's nearly impossible to think back on the World War II without recalling Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. War bond drives, USO programs, films, commercial and AFRS radio programs, V-Disc and commercial phonograph recordings, canteen performances…they were simply ubiquitous. And very often they performed together. So how can we resist? Bing and the Andrews Sisters show up, of course, throughout this year’s festival, but for our closing performance, Jesse and company pay full and focus tribute to this special foursome. Look for their great hits together, a handful of not-to-be-overlooked solos, and a few that are less often heard: “Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive”, “Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy”, “Pistol Packin’ Mama”, “Victory Polka”, “Yodelin’ Jive”, “Don’t Fence Me In”, “Shoo-Shoo Baby”, “The Strip Polka” and more!
