Phoebe Gildea: Then And Now
Side by side, opera and musical theater numbers are not so different. Whether it’s Così fan tutte or Camelot, The Magic Flute or Jekyll & Hyde, the stories and emotions are still the same human struggles, joys, and social mishaps that happen to all of us, no matter how much musical styles change. Soprano Phoebe Gildea, joined by Nathalie Fortin on piano and with a guest appearance by tenor Matt Leach, explores these timeless byways of the human condition through a series of pairings, then and now: “O wär’ ich schon mit dir vereint” (Fidelio) with “Out of My Dreams” (Oklahoma!), Una donna a quindici anni” (Così fan tutte) with “How Lovely To Be A Woman” (Bye Bye Birdie), and “Là ci darem la mano” (Don Giovanni) with “Dangerous Game” (Jekyll & Hyde), and more.
