OFAM 2018: "Sinatra & Basie In Redd"
When we first asked Chuck Redd about the theme "masters and mentors", he responded with one word: Frank. Sinatra, he noted, has had a profound and lasting impact on jazz musicians in how they approach a song. Many have argued that he wasn't a jazz singer, but his elegantly nuanced deviations off the vocal line, his impeccable timing and phrasing impressed deeply. In this final evening of OFAM 2018, Chuck and company offer a predominantly instrumental study of the Sinatra style, with a focus on his work with Count Basie and punctuated with vocals by Siri Vik and Michael Stone. Tickets: AA $39, A $35, B $30, C $25
