Kids and their families are invited to jump on board for some family fun. Travel Lane County will host a free Summer Family Day, Saturday July 13, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Eugene, Cascades & Coast Adventure Center in Springfield. The event will focus on board sports. In addition, professional sand sculptors will build a huge sand sculpture outside the Adventure Center during the event. Sand Master Park, Tactics Board Shop, Northwest Canoe Tours and the City of Eugene will share information about sandboarding, skateboarding, and paddleboarding. Boarding sport tips, equipment displays, as well as rental and special event information will be featured. Kids can also enter to win a skateboard and a sandboard during the event. Local Junior Men’s Sandboarding Champion, Diego Chaves, will be on-site signing autographs and giving sandboarding tips to kids and their families. Kids can make boarding-themed crafts throughout the morning. Free juice, coffee and snacks will be served.
