Oregon Trail Talk & Tea

Singing Creek Educational Center

Experience our Letters From the Trail Presentation and Curriculum For home schoolers, at the SMJ House, in Eugene Oregon on Sunday March 18th. Meet Mrs. Annabelle Smith, an emigrant on the Oregon Trail, and listen to her talk about her journey and new life in Oregon City. Our costumed interpreter will take you back in time at the Shelton McMurphey Johnson House, the area's only Victorian house museum. Gather in the parlor (wear your historic clothing if you like!) and enjoy the first-person interpretation and receive your own letter from a pioneer boy or girl on the trail. Use our curriculum to answer questions about it on the sheet provided, which helps you think more deeply about the Oregon Trail and thereal life experiences of families undergoing this epic journey. Then have cookies and tea with us in the dining room. (Gluten free and dairy free options provided.) What a wonderful day of connecting with local history!
