Ever wanted to try roller derby but not sure where to start? Were you a skater in a previous league or a few years back wanting to pick up the sport again? Tired of just going to the gym sporadically and looking for a new, fun workout routine to meet new people while getting your sweat on? If you answered yes or maybe to any of these questions, we have the program for you!
Emerald City Roller Derby's Recreational Program is the perfect fit for anyone looking to learn how to skate as a derby skater and/or ref. We will TEACH you how to put on your gear (it's harder than it looks!), stand, move, stop, block, fall, and skate like a derby person.
NO EXPERIENCE OR SKILL REQUIRED! RENTAL GEAR AVAILABLE! Rec Program practices twice a week. No attendance requirement necessary but you get out of it what you put into it.
Practices: Mondays, 6-7pm off-skates workout; 7-9pm on-skates
Thursdays 6-8 pm on-skates
First practice for this session is April 10! 12-week program for $150. That's over 120 hours of personal training and serious booty shaping while you make new friends, acquire new skills, and tap into the derby person in you!
As your skills progress, you will have the opportunity to scrimmage and/or bout and transition to the Emerald City Roller Derby league if you wish to!
We will answer all your dying questions about the program, derby, skating, etc. REGISTER NOW ONLINE or when you arrive. Sign a waiver. Meet people who will be training you and more! Following the rec orientation, try your feet out and stick around for a free skate with our current skaters and trainers!
