Aloha Friday

with Bill Keale

Social Hour, 5:00-6:00 pm: Pre-show music by DICK TAKEI. Whirled Pies will serve pizza, salads and beverages, and Everyday Kine Grindz will serve Hawaiian plates. The crafts table will feature Sheila Fleming's Hawaiian print bags, wallets, uke straps, doll clothes and more. Main Show, 6:00-7:45 pm: Perennial favorite braddah BILL KEALE. Bill comes from a revered Hawaiian musical family that includes uncle Moe Keale and cousins Skippy and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Raised in Kailua, O'ahu, Bill has made his home in Bend for many years where he is a medical professional. He has 7 albums and numerous awards to his credit. He plays traditional Hawaiian, Hawaiian Renaissance, and popular American. His guitar work is elegant and detailed ... his vocals range from rich baritone to soaring falsetto ... his aloha comes from the heart and fills the room. Our cultural presentation will be a look at the unofficial anthem of Hawai'i, the song Hawai'i Aloha, including factoids, the original hymn it was derived from, and an inspiring Playing For Change video featuring artists, kids, and locations filmed across the islands. The event is free, but donations are appreciated. Aloha!
