Jumpstart is an after-school program for children ages 5 to 21 who experience an intellectual and/or developmental disability. The program focuses on teaching social skills in a recreational setting. Different themes will be explored on a monthly basis, to enhance skills in focus areas such as science, sports, safety, and music. We facilitate a variety of activities that utilize fine and gross motor skills, while providing rich sensory experiences that encourage discovery. Participants engage in regular community field trips that give them an opportunity to be included in the community while they learn and utilize social skills. Jumpstart is open to students in Eugene, Springfield, and surrounding areas. There are two locations, in Eugene and in Springfield. Hours of operation are school days from 2 pm to 6 pm, early release days from 11:30 am to 6pm, no school days from 8 am to 6 pm. Saturday respite for families is available from 10 am to 4 pm on select Saturdays on a first come, first served basis at the Springfield site.
